I've got an odd problems with a second ide drive. It will not mount at
boot. Though I can mount -a and it mounts just fine. My current fstab is
/dev/hdg1 /mnt/data ext3 suid,dev,exec 0 0
Though I've tried /dev/hdg1 /mnt/data ext3 defaults 1 2
and all I get for my trouble is fsck gets stuck at boot and makes you
hit control+d to continue.
The machine is a proliant dl380 with a ide controller card hooked to a
250g wd hard drive.
Running sarge. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Apparently, the
system is not ready to see the drive at the time fstab would like to
mount it????
What happens if you do a shutdown/restart without powering off?
It could be that the disc is taking longer to spin up.
What error messages are you seeing? Have you looked in your logs?

This message made from 100% recycled bits.
You have found the bank of Larn.
I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.
I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that!
