There is a How To for NIS here: http://www.linux-nis.org/nis-howto/ Once you have set up an NIS server, debian should automatically set up any clients for you when you install the 'nis' package. You will also probably want to have users' home directories available from all computers, which you can do very easily with NFS. Again, here is a How To: http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ You shouldn't need to install anything extra for this as NFS is fairly standard.
