Hi. I had Debian Sarge running of my SATA HD and CDROM (Plextor 712-SA) on 2.4 before I needed to upgrade to 2.6 for webcam and Skype support (thank you ALSA sound!) Anyway, I don't think you'll have too much trouble...that is if your SATA controller is supported. I am using an Intel i810 driver for mine, works like a charm. If you haven't purchased your hardware yet, be sure to check into this first. Please note that there is one problem with a Debian 3.1 2.6 kernel install from the install disc which is documented on the debian manual. Sometimes it will start installing your OS up until it gets to CDROM recognition and than fails to find it (even though you booted from it). To work around this use the expert mode (type expert26 from boot:) and manually select the CDROM drivers. Select just ide-generic, ide-cd, and isofs. Only side effect is that your SATA CDROM might not work post-install until you reconfig your kernel...but we know you were gonna do that anyway! =) steve -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
