I'm having some issues with my usb system in my fresh sarge installation, the scanner's are permission issues, multicard doesn't even make the kernel blink. As root, xsane has no problems. I am using a 2.6.x stock debian kernel, the one in sarge. Here is some about my system:
uname -a Linux hpd 2.6.8-2-686 #1 Thu May 19 17:53:30 JST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux sane-find-scanner found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [Hewlett-Packard], product=0x0401 [HP ScanJet 5200C]) at libusb:002:002 ls /etc/hotplug/usb kino-jogshuttle kino.usermap libgphoto2 libgphoto2.usermap (no reference to scanners) With reference to my multicard, when I connect it, dmesg and /var/log/kern.log don't reflect it.
