Benjamin Sher's comments on Re: Ubunto vs. Debian were as follows:

# Dear raju:
# # My apologies. I didn't have a copy of the letter so I tried to recreate the # heading.

It's nig-picking like this that makes some people not want to use mailing lists.
I should have treated such portions of this thread as spam and just deleted
them, but I had to say something. Not a day goes by that I don't see some
loud-mouth criticizing someone for top-posting, starting a thread on a previous
topic (when a previous post is required to continue the same thread and they
don't have one) and other very trivial matters that have no place adding to my
piling up inbox.

Ok sorry man. From now on all replies to your posts from me will appear in separate threads and I will make sure that I will top post to your questions/replies :-) Just kidding. I understand your point. But for maximum help from other volunteers it is useful if other people follow certain general guidelines.

I posted that reply only after seeing repeated pattern from Benjamin Sher. He seem to be opening a thread just to say that the problem is solved or to say thanks. Sometimes, being new to debian-user, people dont know what is right/wrong/uncomfortable/appreciated/frowned upon etc.,

For example, I never read/post a reply to top posted thread since it is too hard to follow and I can spend my free time reading some other thread.

I consider it my obligation to inform them at least once. If they dont follow the instructions, then I say "welcome to my killfile". Now who is loosing at the end? The newbie or me? Definitely not me. If you still think that is nitpicking - you can as well killfile me. I dont mind.
