Dear friends:

Here are the data for stable vs. sarge after I changed "stable" to "sarge" in my sources:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
#deb file:///cdrom/ sarge main

deb http://debian.uchicago.edu/debian/ sarge main
deb-src http://debian.uchicago.edu/debian/ sarge main

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sarge main
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sarge main

deb http://security.debian.org/ sarge/updates main
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

I get the same errors if I don't run
# apt-get update
before I run apt-get install mplayer

I'm not sure if this is the case for you or not.
Did your run apt-get update after editing sources.list?

Cheers,
Mike

Dear Mike:

All my thanks!

That's what I forgot to do, to update apt-get. Here is the output. No more errors!
