AFAIK CD printing is supported on later versions of gimprint/
gutenprint. I haven't used it, though, so can't attest to its
efficacy.

The very few times I've printed under Winblows were no better than a
direct print under CUPS/Gimp with no photo/color alterations. Too dark
and the color balance was wrong. This was with the printer's software.

My best prints (and they are _very_ satisfactory to me) always required
some sort of lightening and perhaps color balance correction. These
came off an old Olympus camera though. I haven't tried any printing
off my D-70 yet. I have to check its color scheme (Adobe or other).

Additionally, I've just installed cinepaint and want to see how it
works.
