I have also the same problem. On adaptec site I have found drivers for 
Red Hat and SUSE but I still can not Install any Linux distribution.

Now I have istall IDE HDD and will try Debian and Fedora. And then I 
will try to update kernel with some drivers that I found on adaptec site.
Any other information?
