Eh. Let's build computer systems with secure OSes, secure programming languages, secure core applications, &c., and good UI. Set up the system so that it fails well. I'm sure we can design computers that aren't zombie-able and yet are user-friendly and don't require their users to learn command-line arcana. In some ways automobile and road designers have a nice constraint: they *can't* assume that their drivers are a) literate, b) interested in keeping their cars tuned, c) aware of small failures. If they assume any of these things, people die. It would be nice if usability engineers for computer software had to work under similar constraints. -- Stephen R.
