No, the mistake was mine. I assume by this statement that you ran it as root or with sudo. As another said it is in /usr/sbin which is probably not in your path by default, but it is in mine. /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display rsh I had forgotten it was not in most people's paths. My bad. You don't need root to run it. Bob
