I have exim installed, and it gives me
$ ls -l /usr/sbin/sendmail
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Mar 28 08:40 /usr/sbin/sendmail ->
exim
It should be the same for you. You should not need to install sendmail
(though I'm no expert on all the flags).
