Because he provides several utilities on his site to remove SpyWare. I'm sure if he owned the source code, he'd open it up... His version is simply a "hacked" version that removes the crap the the original Kazaa has in the way of that spyware engine that they were distributing. Someone asked about pop-up's. Yeah, it still has them, and it always will as long as the product uses the IE control for its landing screen. When you open Kazaa and Kazaa Lite (which is the same thing), you get a browser interface, this is where the popups are coming from -- right from the site. Not much you can do about that. g. -----Original Message----- From: Matias Hermanrud Fjeld [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, June 07, 2002 11:34 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: KaZaA + Debian Woody + XP -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On Friday 07 June 2002 16:08, FreeportWeb Debian Support Account wrote: > Actually, there is a great version that this dude from europe has produced. > Its called "KaZaA Lite". How can you be sure that kazza lite contains no spyware when you have no access to the source code? The only guarantee is the creators word. He might be saying it just to promote kazaa lite and get more users to it. - -- Matias Hermanrud Fjeld http://www.hex.no/mhf Computers are like air conditioners.
