Someone has probably already stated this but I have do have a HP 610CL connect'd to one of my internal Debian machines running lprng to handle print spooling from the other Debian and a couple Windows 2000 machines fine...
I used lprngtool (1.1.1-6) and lprng (3.8.10-1) and their
dependencies to do this... The resulting printcap entry I'm using is:

The only other real change I made to the configuration of lprng
was to comment out the "REJECT NOT SERVER" line that the maintainer
places in there to stop any thing no locally generated and to add
"ACCEPT SERVICE=R REMOTEIP=<Internal LAN IP range>" before the "REJECT
SERVICE=R FORWARD" line to allow printing only from local network...
