Thanks for your reply Craig. Bizarre as it may seem I had not installed QT3. Though I remember it as a requirement from when I compiled from CVS it totally slipped my mind this time round. Actually, it was tired eyes as well misreading the kde compiling requirements from kde.org- I was reading the QT requirements for 2.2.x !
Thanks for the reminder. All is installed and running well now. I ended up removing kde2.2.2 first for sanity. There seems to have been a problem with several headers from kdelibs not being copied over correctly to /opt/kde3/include/libkmid (ie. libkmid.h) , but I did it manually and the configure and make ran fine. craigw wrote: > If you install from source, the dcopidl should be in > kdelibs-3.0.tar.bz2. > > It is important to install in this order: > qt-3.0.3 , then arts-1.0.0, then kdelibs-3.0. <snip> > Are you setting all your env. vars? I ended up adding a script in /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions that set the enviornment variables before calling /opt/kde3/bin/startkde. Which works fine. all the best, Robert_L -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
