Hi list,
can you help me again?

I work with 10Baste2 - Ethernet. I've build a new kernel and my network doesn't work any more. Please help me!

$ ifconfig
lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1
          RX packets:24 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:24 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:1648 (1.6 KiB)  TX bytes:1648 (1.6 KiB)

$ ifconfig eth0
eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found

$ ifup eth0 -- says the same

$ ping Woody
PING Woody.family.net (192.168.1.1): 56 data bytes
ping: wrote Woody.family.net 64 chars, ret=-1

5 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

$ ping SuSE
connect: Network is unreachable

So you can see my network doesn't work well. :-(

I think there is a problem with my kernel or/and my network-card.

hwinfo says about my Ethernet controller:
(...)
25: PCI 09.0: 0200 Ethernet controller
  [Created at pci.65]
  Unique ID: WL76.9devW7x1wi7
  Hardware Class: network
  Model: "Realtek RTL-8029(AS)"
  Vendor: 10ec "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd."
  Device: 8029 "RTL-8029(AS)"
  I/O Ports: 0xec00-??? (rw)
  IRQ: 11 (no events)
  Driver Info #0:
    Driver Status: ne2k-pci is active
    Driver Activation Cmd: "insmod ne2k-pci"

My Kernel configuration is:
_General Setup_:
[*] Networking support

_Network options_:
<*> Packet socket
<*> Netlink device emulation
[*] Socket Filtering
<*> Unix domain sockets
[*] TCP/IP networking
[*] IP: multicasting <*> IP: tunneling

_Network device support_: <*> Dummy net driver support

[*] Ethernet (10 or 100Mbit)
[*] EISA, VLB, PCI and on board controllers
<*> PCI NE2000 and clones support (see help)
<*> RealTek RTL-8139 C+ PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter support (EXPERI

[*] Support for older RTL-8129/8130 boards

<*> PPP (point-to-point protocol) support
[*]   PPP filtering
<*> PPP support for async serial ports

If anybody can help me, please say what I've do wrong. I need my LAN! And therefore I need YOU! :-)

Thanks a lot!
