I'm using XFree86 4.2.0 on sid and I get the exact same thing, does your system seem to slow down alot before hand? I changed the kernel from 2.4.13 to 2.4.18 and the slowdown problem isn't there now (go figure) but it will still freeze on a ctrl-alt-backspace, from which nothing but a reboot will recover it, occurs about every 5 days or so. The other behaviour I'm seeing is logging out of gnome, the same freeze happens but not all the time {:P cheers Peter van der Male > Hi all, > > first of all, since i'm not on this list, could you be so kind to cc > any followups to me ? > > I use XFree 4.1.0.1 on debian/testing. > When I start X without any window manager, everything works fine.
