as others pointed out, i don't want to open the access to the X server and am trying the ssh solution.... without success so far.... here's my try: ssh -A -X router [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xv xv: Can't open display [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ echo $DISPLAY [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ so somehow the DISPLAY var wasn't set.... :( on the router the ssh server was changed to X11Forwarding yes and the ssh server restarted (OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 Debian 1:3.0.2p1-8.3, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090603f on the laptop, OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 Debian 1:3.0.2p1-9, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090603f on the router... ) so if anyone has an idea.... -- ciao bboett ============================================================== [EMAIL PROTECTED] <- UPDATE your address books please!!!
