I'm trying to get Debian GNU/Linux installed on a new Supermicro 5011H server. The system locks up completely after downloading sequencer code for both channels of the onboard Adaptec AIC-7899 and requires a power-down reset to get it going again. I've tried both Debian 2.2r3 and the compact install for Debian 3 (testing) and the result is the same. Both installs use Linux 2.2.x kernels. Any suggestions about how to get around this?
