At one time I had my SoundBlaster Live using midi inputs with Soundfonts working under ALSA on SuSE. After going back to Debian on the same machine I was unable to get ALSA working again. So if you can get ALSA going on your machine (and plenty of people do, I gave up) then the SBLive would be a good option. David Bellows
