If you have a 2-button mouse, and you have "Emulate 3-buttons" turned on via your X configuration, the same operation as described above is taken, excluding the middle button step. You would go to your mail buffer and click the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously. In some configurations, you might use the left mouse button to copy your data, and simply click the right mouse button once on the target you would like to paste to. I hope this helps.
