With sid i was having problem some time ago with an account starting mozilla, and in the same box with another account no problem at all. Try moving/renaming the .mozilla dir or look for some stale links in /usr/lib/mozilla (with a ppc system mozilla 0.9.7 didn't started until i removed some stale links from previous version, purging and reinstalling helped =)...
