Hi. I am trying to configure a Panasonic printer, KX-P1124. I have always used epson LQ850 compatibility mode. Oddly, I had this working one month ago, I could print from StarOffice or Mozilla. I can print text with 'lpr'. But the thing that has changed is that I can no longer get the correct printout from StarOffice or Mozilla: The printer starts printing out the postscript language.
I tried removing and installing magicfilter, but still just got postscript language. I have removed magicfilter and installed ghostview, gv and gs (ghostscript). For testing, I created a postscript file, print1B.ps. According to the ghostscript documentation, I should be able to print using the command: gs -sDEVICE=epson print1B.ps, but what I actually got was: # gs -sDEVICE=epson print1B.ps GNU Ghostscript 6.51 (2001-03-28) Copyright (C) 2001 artofcode LLC, Benicia, CA. I get this error both as user and as su. If i try: cat print1B.ps |gs -sDEVICE=lq850 >/dev/lp0 as su, I get a lot of text including much GS>GS>GS>GS> and GS(1)GS(1)GS(1)GS(1) ... What is the simplest way to setup a non-postscript printer with Debian (woody)? Thanks, Dennis Krinke _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
