Can you kindly tell what Mail Transfer Agent are you using ?  With Exim,
you can  re-write your headers  via the /etc/email-addresses  file.  Say
for user rodney, you can put in a line like

rodney:  [EMAIL PROTECTED]       

inside the email-addresses file.   Restart the exim daemon process after
you   comment  out   the   line  starting   with   `smtp'  inside   your
/etc/inetd.conf.  Do restart the inetd daemon too.
