basically you don't have a resolv.conf if you don't specify one... there are generally two sections in a resolv.conf file : - the domain(s) you search into for non fully qualified names : search domain1 domain2 ... - the nameserver(s) you use nameserver server1 nameserver server2 If you have more specific needs, you should read man resolv.conf, rather short and well explained :o) Regards, Isabelle HURBAIN
