Problems with xf86cfg

I installed the x-window-system-core before and the command xf86cfg was working, now that i have re-installed the system is not working. What happens is when i try to execute it, it enter x-window then the window to modify the stuff appears then the x-window blinks and it disappears so i have to configure the file manually but i'm worried about this and i want to learn how to solve it.     Any suggestions ?     Thanks,     Iván Filpo
