I have a WinTV Premio from Hauppauge.

It works just fine.
You have to install bttv (the drivers) and xawtv (the application) or
any other application.

You need to have the latest i2c compiled into kernel (or as modules),
and you need the kernel source tree prepared. Than you compile the lot
and voila it works. You might have to tune some module parameters. I
have this in my /etc/modules.conf
alias char-major-81     bttv
options bttv            card=10 radio=1
