phoenix:/usr/src/linux/linux# cat /etc/debian_version 3.0 Lilo parameters append="nmi_watchdog=0 mem=1279M st=64" dmesg shows the 4 cpus, 36gig raid5/8 gig raid0(hardware, IBM Pc Serveraid) with reiserfs, scsi disks working perfectly (tested) Tape drive. st: Version 20011103, bufsize 65536, wrt 63488, max init. bufs 4, s/g segs 16 Attached scsi tape st0 at scsi0, channel 1, id 5, lun 0 st0: Block limits 2 - 16777214 bytes. Using mt I can status, tell and rewind tape (use mt -f /dev/nst0 tell etc). As soon as I do a read/write or erase (be that a dd, tar, cat, anything), it chugs away for a few minutes, I get... phoenix:/tmp# dd if=/dev/nst0 of=/tmp/a dd: reading `/dev/nst0': Input/output error 0+0 records in 0+0 records out Which does... (ips0) Resetting controller. scsi: device set offline - not ready or command retry failed after host reset: host 0 channel 1 id 5 lun 0 st0: Error 30000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x3). Now drive is unaccessable till reboot. Ive tried multpiple disks, adding/removing parts of kernel and looking at st_options.h Anyone have any comments or advice about it ?
