Do they have PostScript cards? If so, is CUPS set up to spew directly to them? If they're not PostScript, CUPS will render things into PCL for them using its modified Ghostscript, which could be slow. It may be faster on a Windows client if the Windows client is faster at rendering PCL (ie, slow print server), or if the server is low on memory or slow. I also don't know how efficient the PCL CUPS turns out is... for all I know, it could be rendering it into a big bitmap to send over. (Anyone know?) Or something is set up wrong... check "top" while the print server is sending the job.
