I think it may have something to do with the following lines:
[Engine.Engine]^M
GameRenderDevice=SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice

In .loki/ut/System/UnrealTournament.ini
Also look at the various options under
[SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice]
