Alternately, put XkbOptions "ctrl:swapcaps" in the keyboard section of XF86Config. The syntax for XFree 4.x probably differs; perhaps something like Option XkbOptions "ctrl:swapcaps" in the keyboard InputDevice section. I can't be sure since I solved this problem with a Happy Hacking keyboard so I don't use those options. -- Mark
