No SSL support for wget you say? Well, check these options out:
First Option:
1) Get openssl
2) get newest wget (ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/wget/wget-1.8.tar.gz)
3) compile wget with --with-ssl configure flag
Second Option:
follow directions here: http://dominia.org/djao/wget_ssl.html
