HI! I have the following situation/problem:
I want to print via CUPS to a central printer server in my LAN (CUPS is installed on client and the server, cups-daemon is running on both machines) The thing is everthing seems to be installed correctly. I use CUPS together with the http://www.turboprint.de filtering system. On the server I started print jobs with the lpr-command. If you check it out with the lpq or the lpstat -t command of CUPS you can find the print jobs in the queues. So the system seems to print, but theres is no output on my inkjet-printer on /dev/lp0 !!??? lpstat says that the printer is enabled and accepting prints. If I check the CUPS-Server-Site with my browser on port 631 everythings to be OK. I can see the print-jobs which are in the printing queue. But there is NO output on the printer. In the /var/log/cups/error_log file I only find the following error messages: I [20/Jan/2002:00:46:53 -0100] Job 1 queued on 'tp0' by 'root'. I [20/Jan/2002:00:46:53 -0100] Job 1 queued on 'tp0' by 'root'. E [20/Jan/2002:00:46:53 -0100] PID 291 crashed with status 2! I [20/Jan/2002:00:57:13 -0100] ReadConfiguration() Configured for up to 100 clients. I [20/Jan/2002:01:19:31 -0100] Job 1 queued on 'tp0' by 'root'. I [20/Jan/2002:01:40:21 -0100] Job 1 queued on 'tp0' by 'richard'. E [20/Jan/2002:01:40:21 -0100] PID 223 crashed with status 2! I [20/Jan/2002:02:45:53 -0100] Job 2 queued on 'tp0' by 'richard'. E [20/Jan/2002:02:45:54 -0100] PID 317 crashed with status 2! So, as you can see, everytime I print, the job crashes after a certain while in the background with these error messages :-(( Does somebody have any idea what's going wrong here?? Any helpful hints really appreciated. yours sincerely, Richard -- Mag.
