This is the Right Way® to do this. The action can be bound to a tile or simple widget as well. Desktop environments (GNOME/KDE) often provide an option for the user to shut down as well. Me? I leave my systems up pretty much full time. Power draw from the CPU itself is low (the monitor is another story), and the advantages of having the system up are to my benefit. Peace. -- Karsten M.
