You do have to hunt for them... but they're out there. Dealers here have 'em, but I opted for the G550 anyway. :) > It has Linux support ofcourse, but I cannot seem to make X work in any > higher resolutions than VGA (640x480) and SVGA (320x200)!!? Well, it doesn't seem to be supported in the currently packaged mga driver in Woody. The additions to the current open-source driver seem to be trivial so I imagine they'll be included at some point. Look for something like the following in your log file: (II) MGA: driver for Matrox chipsets: mga2064w, mga1064sg, mga2164w, mga2164w AGP, mgag100, mgag100 PCI, mgag200, mgag200 PCI, mgag400, mgag550 (II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0 (--) Chipset mgag550 found (--) Chipset mgag550 found If you don't see the 'mgag550' as a supported chipset, then you need to get the updated driver. Matrox has a binary download of it, or if you're up to it, you can modify the X source and build it yourself. One you get it working, you'll love it. I run 1280x960x16bit dual-head and the display quality is wonderful. :) -- Marc Wilson [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
