YES NOW IT WORKS Well my mistake of course, there were two libs affected by the patches concerned /lib/libc-2.1.3.so, and /lib/libdl-2.1.3.so
I forgot about the latter. I should have really dpkg -i'ed the whole package I have built not just the files of ./i386-linux/libc6/lib reported as different by cmp.
