O.K.,
I hope you have a working PC or something else. On "Windows" you handle it that way:
Insert in the first CD of your distribution (binary1). Here you can find in the "tools" directory the tool "rawrite2". Extract it to a directory via WinZip on your drive (like c:\).
After you extracted it you have the program to install the two disk-floppies. What you need now is the root and  the rescue image. You can find it on your CD "F:\dists\woody\main\disks-i386\3.0.13-2001-08-25" (for woody you can also select potato). Copy now from the directory "F:\dists\woody\main\disks-i386\3.0.13-2001-08-25/images-1.44" rescue.bin and root.bin in the directory where you installed/unzipped your "rawrite".
Simply start rawrite and type when you are asked "rescue.bin", put in a formated floppy and awnser the question of your floppy drive. Start installing your rescue image (and afterwards your root-image).

Then start to boot your laptop from the rescue-floppy. After a while you are asked for the root-floppy to be inserted. That is all. The rest is directly started from the cdrom-drive (with the first binary CD in).
