ah... I see what you're saying and, yes, gtcd is probably the best cd player out there, interface-wise (my cd player of choice until I get around to writing my own ;-) I suddenly remember my Mandrake 6.0 days when I used to use kmp3... http://lug.mfh-iserlohn.de/kmp3/ The interface is very standard kde and pretty much looks like kscd (if you've ever used that cd player).
