when I attempt to logon to my potato system (with kde debs from
kde.debian.net. The system also uses NIS/NFS) with one particular user,
logging on with KDM gives no error but simply exits back to the normal
KDM logon screen, waiting for login and password again. This appears in
.xsession-errors:

mkdtemp: private socket dir: Permission denied

And in /var/log/auth.log:

Nov 26 13:54:50 debian PAM_unix[369]: (kde) session opened for user
cfischer by (uid=0)
Nov 26 13:54:50 debian PAM_unix[369]: (kde) session closed for user
cfischer

When cfischer logs into a console and types "startx", everything works
fine. Does anyone know what's going wrong with KDM? Thanks.
