Thanks for the help on this.  This is what my
/etc/network/interface looks like now
auto lo eth0
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet dhcp
  When I did the auto eth0 on the same line I got the
error unable to configure auto=auto. When I did it in
a seperate line it would not configure.
Anyway it now works at my office, just need to check
it at home, but it should work there also.
