I'm not quite clear on what you want to acheive, but it seems like you
could avoid the symlink problem by simply exporting the / directory, and
then chrooting into it on the other computer (which would make the symlinks
work).  Of course, then you'd be chrooted into it, which quite likely isn't
what you want...
