Which is exactly what libexpat1 1.95.2-4 does.

Are you sure? Notice my reply near the end of that bug report.

I'm looking at the libexpat1 .deb now, and it contains:

lrwxrwxrwx root/root         0 2001-11-04 17:23:01 ./usr/lib/libexpat.so.0 -> 
libexpat.so.1
