Hmm. The next thing man normally does after that is related to the
current locale. Could you tell me what this outputs?

  echo LC_ALL=$LC_ALL
  echo LC_MESSAGES=$LC_MESSAGES
  echo LANG=$LANG
  echo LANGUAGE=$LANGUAGE

I suspect add_nls_manpath() is buggy.
