'apt-get upgrade' will install new packages if they're required by another package that you have installed (and is being 'upgraded'). This will happen if package 'A' now requires package 'B' when with the previous version it didn't. 'apt-get upgrade' will, of course, prompt you about the additional package(s). Hall
