This is because the rc script (/etc/init.d/umountfs) from the new sysvinit package tries to turn off write caching on IDE devices, which means that it will process every device under /proc/ide, and since it tries to access your cd-rom as well, the kernel will try to load the module for it. This is a known bug, see <http://bugs.debian.org/115354> and <http://bugs.debian.org/115822> for more information.
