I went and wiped everything with a fresh install of Progeny.

I then walked through the Woody upgrade instructions, noting
but ignoring errors. (I have them ready to post once I have a
successful install.)

Here, again, is the source of the instructions I followed:
http://www.progeny.com/archive/debian/support/conversion.html

I got down to the end at ...

"Install modconf"

# apt-get install modconf

*NOTE: "debconf: (not preconfiguring packages since apt-utils is not yet
installed)"

*So I ran  apt-get install apt-utils

"Reboot your system"

*NOTE: I accidently skipped this reboot and ran modconf
* I did not select any devices. etc. from the menu since what I needed
seemed
* to already be selected.
* I also used NANO to look at the /etc/gdm.conf file. It was empty.
* Ran  "apt-get update"
* Then ran "apt-get --reinstall install gdm".
* Used NANO again to look at the /etc/gdm.conf file. It was still empty.
* I also ran "cardctl ident" and recorded the information about my pcmcia
* nic and modem

What else should I do prior to rebooting, please?

I sure don't want to end up without my pcmcia devices again!

Thanks!  Doc
