My question is when you do a upgrade like > this why isn't apt-utils installed with the upgrade if > it is required for configuring the packages? > Yes I reinstalled 2.2.r2. > I have other questions, but will ask them one at a > time. > Any and all responses are appreciated. > Dom
Hello, AFAIK apt-utils is something new with Woody - it will be installed when you upgrade, but it is not already present at the time of the upgrade (if you see what I mean). It shouldn't do any damage to your sytem to not have it there - it's function is to assist apt in making intelligent choices. If you want to retry the upgrade, change your sources.list, and apt-get install apt-utils first, then proceed with the regular dist-upgrade. Should be fine, athough there are a number of other small issues that have to be addressed during the upgrade. Good luck, Steve
