> Can I get ASDL with British Telecom to work under potato, and if so how?
The short answer is no, you need a 2.4 kernel to get the USB Alcatel Speedtouch modem to work for more info check out the url below. http://www.linuxdude.co.uk/docs/Alcatel-Speedtouch-USB-mini-HOWTO/speedtouchusb.html To upgrade to 2.4 check out http://www.fs.tum.de/~bunk/kernel-24.html I installed potato then upgraded modutils etc and then followed the instructions in the howto (Luckily I had a dual boot to Win98 to download everyting I needed). Anyway I got the ADSL working after a few problems (I still can't get hotplug to work properly) and it works like a dream (With windows the connections kept stalling). If you do attempt it I'd be happy to answer any questions that arise. I'm running a 2.4.8-ac12 as that's the latest kernel I could get to work. The latest ac kernel have pppoatm but I couldn't get the module to load (2.4.10-ac10). Good luck Nick
