hi, every now and then, discussions on debian-.* appear, which don't have anything to do with debian. even worse, sometime, these messages deal with micro$oft or other topics that make us feel uneasy (substitute adjective of choice if desireable). the reasons for that are simple: debian-.* mailing lists unite a large number of brilliant people, people who have knowledge in so many fields that debian itself only makes up a small intersective area between these collective yet distinct wisdoms (yes, wisdom's got no plural, i know this).
anyway, i myself find that when confronted with any kind of question, i tend to think of debian-.* at first as the location of the answer. and in so thinking, i am not wrong, because so frequently, you guys have answered my questions patiently, even if the topic was totally off-topic. therefore, i had the idea to create a list for exactly this purpose - sharing wisdom and knowledge amongst debian users which isn't tied to debian: debian-wisdom. initially, i called it debian-offtopic, but -wisdom is more spiffy, don't you think? anyway, before we make the list official, let's see how well it works. thus, i set one up on my list server, and would invite everyone to join: https://lists.madduck.net/mailman/listinfo/debian-wisdom. the list itself is open for subscription, but closed for posting, meaning that you have to be a subscriber to post - and meaning that in mailman philosophy, if you tend to post with different email adresses than you use to receive the list mail, you subscribe yourself multiple times and disable mail-delivery whereever it isn't wanted. so go ahead, join a new forum which will hopefully prove to be cool and resourceful enough to move to lists.debian.org. questions go to me, other than that i hope to have laid the foundation for even better, even more centralized sharing of knowledge amongst the coolest people on earth! subscriptions accepted as of now. immediate subscribers pay 40% of the original price: 0.0 cents. what are you waiting for? -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" [EMAIL PROTECTED] the only real advantage to punk music is that nobody can whistle it.
