(Yep, you can set /etc/interfaces for DHCP and make sure your ipchains/iptables are set corectly.)
Alternative is set up with FIXED IP. Many cable service gives same IP for same hostname (my cable) or same MAC address (some who rely on NIC card) throgh DHCP. To get current IP with Windows, use winipcfg command.
