It's a 625VA, which is good enough to take on a PentiumIII, 17" monitor, and enough juice left over to support one more CPU. I haven't tried any free packages for ups management, as the one that came with the UPS works fine for my needs (Belkin has binaries for Linux, Windows, and Mac). It connects to the standard serial port, and works fine. The daemon works in command line mode, but there's an X client that lets you check up on the UPS, set scheduled tests, e-mail alerts, and so on. It isn't great, but like I said, it's fine for my personal machine here at home. The UPS also has a Modem/10BaseT surge protector, 8 outlets (4 surge, 4 ups/surge), and it's pretty accessible. I got it for about $100 online. HTH, Jason -- Jason Healy | [EMAIL PROTECTED] LogN Systems | http://www.logn.net/
